All waste, including that generated from plastics, metal and chemicals, is one of the most concerning environmental issues today. As the waste we generate has become a factor in ocean pollution, landfills and climate change, manufacturers are taking responsibility by utilizing stronger sustainable practices. As a part of the ISO 14001 environmental standard, which aims to reduce the harmful impact of waste on our ecosystem, Slide Products has implemented SHARP (Slide Hazardous Aerosol Return Program) as a value-added service for our loyal customers.
What is the Program?
The primary objective of the SHARP program is to handle hazardous waste properly by collecting Slide-labeled aerosols for easy reprocessing. Not only does this benefit the environment, but it also helps eliminate related handling costs and provides a pain-free recycling method:
- Click the sign-up page, which will allow us to contact you with detailed instructions on how to participate.
- Gather leftover cans in a collection box, preferably an empty gaylord. To lower delivery expenses, we recommend adding as many cans as possible in a singular shipment.
- Only Slide aerosol cans with the label intact are acceptable. We ask that you remove the spray tips for legal transport.
- Send cans back to Slide, where the rest is taken care of worry-free, and no further charges are incorporated.
The Advantages of Slide’s SHARP Program
Most waste disposal firms add a fee comprised of weight, pallet and retrieval costs. Comparatively, with Slide Products you are saving money while protecting the environment – no extra fees added. It’s a win-win for all parties involved.
User Testimony
At Slide Products, we value our customers’ feedback, so we asked one of our end users about their personal experience when using the program. We spoke to Pat Hubertz of Vision Plastics, Inc., a family-owned custom injection molder located in Southeastern Wisconsin. Pat has been working with Slide for over 11 years and was introduced to SHARP in 2021. His biggest motivation for trying SHARP included Swedish customers who make these types of recycling standards a requirement.
Finding an integral avenue to achieve this meant utilizing SHARP as a way to properly handle discard. Pat explains, “We pretty much use it once a year; we save up about 800 pounds of gaylord – an average sized shipment for Vision Plastics.” Hubertz emphasized its simplicity and will continue taking advantage of this practice to supplement other positive ecological projects. He goes on to share: “Slide takes the full can back, we just dispose of the little cap and away they go, it’s a nice program.”
Sustainability Efforts
While reflecting on the consequences relative to unacceptable dumping of plastic waste, we remain committed to developing solutions that promote a greener future. We hope our efforts can decrease the load placed on landfills and potentially dangerous toxins from intensifying greenhouse gases. Learn more about the SHARP program today!
